The Latest Casual Game Mode Ignites Heated Debates Regarding Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers introduced a fresh game mode called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but includes several notable changes:
- Each team includes only 8 real players, with the rest made up of 32 bots.
- Activities performed by real players award full XP, while bot actions offer lower rewards.
- Just a pair of locations can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
- Features like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.
So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a casual version of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, since it gives more options for players looking for different methods to enjoy the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, many Battlefield 6 fans are upset.
Player Reactions: Anger to Praise
"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," comments a different user. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this title," and someone else lists everything they consider to be problematic in the game: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this bot mode."
On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this title 24/7. Let them strike a balance," adds a different comment. One reply via social media explains that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," while another praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."
Valid Concerns and Community Feedback
All that said, there are constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists due to the sheer number of options in the game already. Similarly, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.
Finally, a major complaints is that a previous feature was promised to provide full XP, even against bots, but that got canned when they attempted to remove XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. Another describes this mode as the devs "dropping the ball so hard, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made?
If the development team has proven anything so far with the latest installment, it's that they're listening and responding to player input. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted rapidly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, if their data indicates this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
