Supporters Urge Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A viral video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was set to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further message on Instagram.
Several supporters also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
