New Details Emerge Regarding the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
Furthermore refuted published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
