Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
