American actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a announcement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.
Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
