Within the extremely competitive arena of video games, it's typical for fresh competitors to vanish as rapidly as they burst on to the landscape.
Yet this new installment is striving to change that.
It's the most recent addition in a long-running warfare game franchise often described as a more realistic alternative to its main competitor.
The title has seldom been able to rival its best-known rival in terms of sales or user base, but evidence points to the recent entry could narrow the difference.
An early access event giving players a shot to test the game in recent months set new benchmarks, and the excitement approaching its debut has been huge.
Yet the project is nevertheless a significant gamble for developer Electronic Arts, which has according to sources invested hundreds of millions of dollars developing it.
We have talked to a number of the creators to learn how they expect it will pay off.
Production Crew and Studio Partnership
A total of four development houses were developing the project under the unified development banner.
Among them are long-time creator Dice, based in Scandinavia, California's Motive Studios and Ripple Effect in the Great White North.
One more, the Guildford team, is based in England.
Rebecka Coutaz is the executive of the two continental studios, and explains to our team that, in respect of what it's delivering gamers, "the latest installment is probably unsurpassed."
Responding To Earlier Shortcomings
The new release arrives after the release of the advanced the previous game, published in the past to a unfavorable reception it struggled to bounce back from.
"It's likely that we couldn't make and develop this new game lacking the lessons we acquired in the last release," she explains to the press.
One of those insights was to involve players involved from the start, and the team launched exclusive fan playtests in recent months.
Their "feedback was incredibly favorable," states she.
Another absent element from the previous installment was a solo experience, which has been restored for this release.
The UK studio creative lead Fasahat "Fas" Salim is the person in charge of "ensuring those levels are as fun and interesting as can be for the audience."
In spite of claims that the scope of the project had put a strain on the different teams partnering across continents to develop the project, the director is positive about the endeavor.
"Partnering with different perspectives, different heritages, it's a truly interesting atmosphere to be engaged with daily," he says.
"This entire strategy has been something new but something really inspiring because we are partnering with people from all over the world."
Concerning the expectation on the team, he comments: "We feel pressure but at the same time it's thrilling.
"It's a big undertaking. It's likely the biggest that most of us have ever worked on."
Young Talent Adds Fresh Perspective
That's absolutely true of a minimum of one staff, visual designer Vlad.
The recent hire creates the lighting elements that define the atmosphere, style, and narrative of the story mode.
He finished an internship at Criterion prior to securing a job at the company, and currently operates with reduced hours while finishing his digital arts qualification at the university.
Vlad says he's a long-time fan of the games, and recollects experiencing the previous game of the series at a pal's home when he was younger.
Working on it currently, as his first career position, "doesn't feel actual."
"It's very crazy seeing the advertising everywhere," he comments.
"Understanding that I've put my individual work into the project is truly surreal."
